Summer Buzzin!

Buzznet Story Teller’s Assignment #31 … Make A Wish

CANDLE

CANDLE Jul 16, 2013

I want to first of all thank Yong Yi for accepting my offer to be a “Guest Admin” and take over the Buzznet Story Teller’s Group for a few weeks!  This includes our wonder 31st assignment!

I have many wishes for many things, but since it is summer and Warped Tour and many music festivals are happening, I will go with my first love!  Well my first love after my family, of course!  That would have to be music!

You all have seen my favorite page of concert ticket stubs in Assignment #28!  There are two bands that are sadly missing!

My wish is that one day before I die, I will get to see U2 and The Cure live in concert!  To hear Bono belt out my favorite song of all time “Pride (In The Name of Love)”, would be so great that my heart beats faster just thinking about it!  I had a chance to see them once back in 1983, but in the stupidity of my youth I did not go!  A local youth group were going on a roadtrip after school one night to see this band called U2!  I had never heard of them, and I had a test the next day, so I declined my friend’s offer to tag along!  What a MISTAKE!!!

The other band that I wish to see is The Cure!  I have never been given an opportunity to see them!  When they have played tours in the US, they have all been so very far away that I could never go!  However, a friend of mine from college had seen them, and she gave me her concert shirt !  What an AMAZING girl !  I still have and wear the shirt to this day! It is very thin, but I don’t care!  I would love the privilege of seeing and hearing Robert Smith sing “In Between Days” which is my favorite Cure song!

Obviously, I have no concert photos to post, but I will leave you with an old shot that I took of Kay wearing my nearly worn out shirt!

Summer Buzzin Month

CANDLE

CANDLE Jul 15, 2013

Summer in Michigan is all about the water!  We are surrounded by the beautiful  Great Lakes! It is such a privilege to live here! We are also surrounded by many, many inland lakes! I can step out of my front door, travel in any direction, and hit water within 30 minutes!  We don’t have as many inland lakes as Minnesota, but we are not far behind!  So … I am going to show you the few photos I have taken out on the lakes so far!

This view was captured from my mom’s front steps on Paradise Lake on June 1, 2013!  It was still early in the season, so there weren’t many boats out on the water except that one!

This is the opposite view at my mom’s!  This is taken from her big beautiful picture window!  It is beginning to look like summer!

The water was so still, it looked like a mirror!  I also love the way the way the light was coming through the trees!  I am back shooting from my mom’s porch here!

This is my cousin Jim’s pontoon boat !  It is LOTS of fun!

Here is Kay in front of a tiny waterfall in the Crossings!  Does that count? LOL

Here is Kay standing in Lake Huron with the Mackinaw Bridge and Lake Michigan behind her!

Looking for just the right skipping stone in Lake Huron! ( :

The “Mighty Mack” which is the dividing line between Lake Huron and Lake Michigan!  My grandfather was a construction worker, and he helped build the bridge!  Whenever I think of that it always makes me smile!  Go Grandpa! (((:

I will end with a cloudy, but brilliant sunset over the bridge!

So there you have it!  Summer buzzin’ for me!  Some go to the beaches to swim or go boating, I go to take photos!

Do you have a favorite?

Would you consider traveling to Northern Michigan to enjoy the lakes?

LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS!
